Writing & Editing Pictorial Storytelling

Jerome Hinds is conducting a series of three workshops!

Attend the workshops, either at individual rates or bundle rates, and perfect your skills in writing for graphic novels, manga and comics.  A Certificate of Attendance or  Certificate of Completion endorsed by the Academy of Literary Arts and Publishing (ALAP) and the Association of Comic Artists Singapore (ACAS) will be awarded to all participants.

About Jerome Hinds

Jerome Hinds, President of the Association of Comic Artists Singapore (ACAS) has spent over 25 years in the design, marketing and advertising industry, working as a Creative Director, Art Director and Chief Copywriter. He has written, directed and designed an award winning 3D animation, and worked with ex-Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief, Tom DeFalco (Marvel’s longest running Spider-Man writer) on a short story of his own Singapore born super heroin creation, Singapore Sling. Jerome is the creator and editor of Singapore’s first all-colour USA format comicbook, Get Carter!, and continues to edit and publish much of the Association members’ content.

* Introduction to comic writing disciplines

* Creating a concept

* Deriving stories from a concept

* The principles of compressed and decompressed storytelling

* Understanding elements of layout, lettering, balloon placement and word count

* Building characterisations

* Dialogue construction and evaluation

* Basic character/cast design tips (no drawing experience required)

* Script formatting

* Short script assignment for later submission and potential publication
